Farm Shares

This week CEW members helped dig potatoes since Chris had no other help and was not ready for our regular Monday morning pick up. So along with a generous share of spuds, we got:

Beets and beet greens
Carrots with tops in tact
Lots of basil

Much that we find beautiful or attractive is not conscious of its beauty. Birds have no sense of the effect their singing has on us.

The dirt that comes out of the compost pile, the product of manure, discarded vegetation, grass clippings, the exhausted soil from ancient containers and window boxes knows nothing of its loveliness, its purity.

Earth worms come and make a home leaving behind their nutritious castings and in the end their delicate red earth bodies.
